Being able to drive classic cars from the past is a key draw for at least some fans of the F1 games. It’s a feature they look forward to and hope for on all the latest releases. Whether it’s driving the 2009 Brawn GP with it’s monstrous downforce, or the 2010 Red Bull for the same reason. Or something much older from the 1990s or even 1980s. Having classic cars is a popular extra feature for the F1 games.
But which of the modern official F1 games have classic cars available to use? Can you drive retro/classic cars on the game in online/offline game modes?
Classic F1 cars are featured on all the games from F1 2017 to F1 2020, but not on any games after that to date. Therefore the most recent games like F1 2021, F1 22, F1 23 and F1 24 unfortunately do not feature any classic cars.
Why they haven’t featured recently is probably down to money and/or licensing restrictions. But the good news is that you can pick up some of the older games that do have them for a bargain now and drive a wide range of classic cars from all different eras going back to the 1970s.
In this guide, I’ll provide you detailed info on which retro cars you can drive on which of the games as well.
The Latest F1 Games That Do Have Classic Cars
The last games that featured classic cars were the F1 2020, F1 2019, F1 2018 and F1 2017 games.
Therefore, if you want your classic cars fix, you have to go back a few editions in the Codemasters F1 game history. Let’s be even more specific by listing the specific classic cars available in each game:
F1 2020:
- 2010 Red Bull RB6
